[Chizuru had fallen asleep to the sound of waves. She had gotten used to the unsteady rocking that the boat subjected them too for the past several days. It wasn't a long journey, from Osaka to Edo, but it was just long enough to get used to the bouyancy of the water before having to subject yourself to re-acquainting yourself with the durability of hardened soil.
When she'd stepped off the boat, she was light-headed, and her eyes were barely capable of staying open. From all the crying, seeing Yamazaki off to his watery grave, her eyes had nearly swollen shut, and she still had yet to sleep a wink since they said their final farewells. Perhaps she had fainted, and that is why she found herself curled up in a ball on a soft patch of grass. She woke with a start, gasping when she'd realized what (she thought) had happened.]
Oh, no! I'm so sorry! I must've just-- [Chizuru rolled onto her hands and knees frantically, spurting out awkward apologies to pretty much anyone within a listening distace, when she realized that...wait. Since when did the arbor have such lush greenery? Edo wasn't nearly as developed as, say, Osaka, but...the ports at the very least would have...
..but wait. Chizuru froze, holding her breath as she listened. There was no sound of the waves breaking against the rocky shores, or the flapping of canvas as the masts yearned for the wind to catch them. Instead, there was only the soft hum of insects and the occassional chirp of a bird, the gentle rusting of feathers.
Feathers...really close. Chizuru sat back and sighed.] ...did I wander off somewhere? [She looked up at the sky, wincing but also in awe at the brightness of the sun.] ...wasn't it Winter...? For it to be so hot...
[There was that rusting sound again. So close, was it the sound of silk robes brushing against itself?!] Who's there?! [Chizuru cried out in a more panicked voice than she would've liked...but it was then that she realized that...] Oh, no...
[She was alone. Alone and lost, yet again.]

But yeah, I think I've been eating alright! I mean, it's just Souji and I so we've had to make our own food, unless we went to the food places around here, so...
[As for the bloodlust? Gotta bring that up to him yourself, Chizuru...! He's so focused on her being here right now that he really doesn't realize just how drained and tired he's suddenly feeling, despite the sweat that's starting to roll off his head. Oops.]
no subject
[Because the idea of sitting him down and reading to him...probably wouldn't help the ridicule he gets from the others for being the youngest all that much.]
In that case! [Chizuru brightly smiles.] Once we get me all settled in, how about I make you both a real dinner?
no subject
Well, if it's not any trouble, I guess that'd be great! For both parts. Especially the dinner, since you sure cook a lot better than Souji and I do, haha...
[He scratches his head a bit in embarrassment.]
no subject
I don't think I've ever had your cooking, Heisuke-kun...[By the time it was his turn, she had all but taken over cooking duties.]
no subject
Oh, really? Well yeah, I didn't really have to do it since you joined us. [He just knows how since it's kinda a necessary skill. Don't test him on it, Chizuru. His food is probably crap.]
no subject
I...[She brings a knuckle to her chin, her brow furrowing fretfully.]...I just don't know what I'd do, otherwise.
[C'mon Heisuke. Let her cook. Do it for her.]
1/2
Haha, alright, alright! [He waves his hands up a bit in mercy.] You can do that then. Just lemme know if you want a break or anything, alright? I can--
no subject
..H-hrk...!
no subject
[She knew it. She knew he shouldn't be out here in the daylight! If she hadn't cried out, she could've found her way on her own...and then Heisuke wouldn't have been subjected to this...] Quick. [Even if her heart is racing, if she's mentally in a state of panic, she remains calm as she circles her arms around the young man, hoisting his weight against hers.] We should get out of the sunlight.
[Even if it wouldn't stop the pain, at least it wouldn't make it worse.] Can you walk? Just a few steps--
no subject
With the severe discomfort, it's difficult to even hear Chizuru's words, but he at least hears enough of the last few to know where she's getting at. So he gives her a quick pained nod and a strained "yeah". He'd protest and say that he's fine, but considering how dangerously long he has been out in the sun already... he's well aware of the consequences, and he's not taking anymore chances.
Lead the way, Cheese-chan.]

It seems to take forever to make it into the shade, and as the distance closes, Heisuke's getting heavier. She could feel the sweat seeping though Heisuke's clothes and onto her.] You're slipping...Heisuke-kun...[She tries to hoist him further up against her, but she knows if she stops she'll probably end up collapsing under his weight. Almost...there...]
no subject
If it weren't for Chizuru pointing out that he had been slipping, he wouldn't have noticed. He tries to at least help in pulling himself back up as she hoists him further up, which helps a little, but... of course, that just ends up hurting him even more.
They're almost there though, so he won't give up just yet. Just a couple more steps and they'll be under the shade of a tree, then he'll be able to collapse onto the ground and calm down.]
no subject
Did those packets make it here with you? Maybe I could go find some. [But would it be too late, by that time. Somewhere in the back of her mind a nagging voice reminded her that the reason Heisuke was suffering like this was because he just had to come out and find her. He had to make sure she was safe, because in what reality would she have been able to make it to town on her own, in this strange place?]
...please, I want to help...[Because this was ultimately her fault, wasn't it?]
no subject
Heisuke shakes his head, half to answer her question and half because he figured she would be thinking that this had somehow been her fault, and that she has to make up for it. But it's not her fault. He made the decision to come out here on his own. He wanted to. Of course, he can't tell her this at the moment. Speaking is proving to be incredibly difficult right now, between his intense, throbbing headache, burning throat, and hurting... everything.
After a moment though, he manages to let out a few words:] Just... just... give me a minute...
no subject
But she didn't know--she couldn't just stand there and watch..! What was she supposed to do?!
Even if she was to do something, how could she, when she had no idea where she was?! It frustrated her, made her angry--and the only thing she could do about it was swallow her upset. It was a bitter, painful thing to swallow, causing her eyes to sting as tears threatened to come to her eyes.
She blinks them away quickly. She can't cry. She won't allow Heisuke to worry about anything other than himself right now. As he requested, she waits in silence.]
no subject
He can kind of tell that she was on the verge of crying, which makes Heisuke work even harder to get the sudden vicious case of bloodlust to subside. Panting heavily, he just continues kneeling over the shaded grass, trying to relax his body.
There's some improvement, at least. After a moment or two, his white hair gradually reverts to its original brown, and his ruby eyes go back to blue-green.]
no subject
Heisuke-kun...[Her voice was quiet, any words they shared reserved for just between them.]...do you want to rest a bit? I can wait here with you, or if you want me to go fetch something...
no subject
Chizuru... [...] Y-yeah... Just for a little while. You don't have to get anything, but... y'mind staying around here for a few more minutes...?
[Just until his body is fully recovered. Or at least enough to give him enough energy for escorting Chizuru back to the apartment.]
no subject
[Still supporting Heisuke by the shoulders, Chizuru settles on the grass, crossing her ankles and shifting to sit, her legs curling beside her.] Then rest a moment? You can use my lap if you like. [She released one of Heisuke's shoulders, using the newly-freed hand to flatten the linen skirt of her dress across her legs.]
no subject
Huh-- [When he hears her offer though, he kind of... looks off to the side a bit, his face growing slightly red. Would that really be okay...?! It sounds a little embarrassing and awkward, especially considering how Heisuke's not really used to seeing Chizuru in something so uh... small. And feminine. To him, at least. ...This isn't really the time to be thinking about this sort of thing, is it.]
Erm... Y-you sure about that...?
no subject
[She lightly pats her hand against the fabric covering her thigh.] Just for a bit, it's ok!
no subject
[Just... give Heisuke a minute to recollect his thoughts and try not to feel too incredibly awkward! And then he'll go ahead and lay on the grass, his head gradually going to rest itself on Chizuru's lap. He makes sure to turn away from her, at least, which is half because he's sure his face is fairly red right now. I mean, it feels warm enough.
This is so embarrassing...!] S-sorry... about this...
no subject
I'm the one who should be sorry. You came all this way out because of me.
no subject
No, it's fine. Don't blame yourself, alright? I chose to come out here myself. I couldn't leave you alone out there, anyway. This place can get kinda dangerous sometimes. [Well. For Chizuru, anyway. Heisuke wouldn't admit to it being in any way dangerous for him. huff huff!!]
no subject
She just wants to help ease some of it, somehow.]
I'll make it up to you. [All that you said? Irrelevant. Chizuru is not going to be dead weight here, and you can bet that things are going to change for the better now that she's here.
She's not entirely sure how, yet. But she'll figure something out.]
