He never asked Heisuke when he was from or what happened, mostly because it just never came up. But now, with Hijikata so drastically different...

Giving her a wry smile, ] That's pretty far in the future. [ Especially considering he doesn't even know if he'll be able to live at home for another 3 years ] So you'd probably be able to explain what's up with Hijikata-san, then?

[Chizuru tilts her head curiously.] With Hijikata-san? You mean...[She reaches back to her neck and gestures with a hand to indicate a change in hair length.]

[ Nods slowly. He'd include the clothes, but he's guessing the outfit came with the hairdo.

Not to mention how old he looks... ]

[Chizuru shifts her weight uncomfortably onto one foot, and folds her arms tightly across her chest.]

Honestly, I don't really know. We were on a ship to Edo when I woke up here. And everything--well, almost everything was how you remember it...

[Except for Yamazaki and Inoue...but she wasn't sure if it was her place to tell him.]

But Heisuke-kun seems to be close to my time, too, isn't he? Has he filled in any of the gaps for you?

Hm. [ Is his only response to that first part. So Hijikata must've gotten his haircut and his wrinkles after the boat to Edo in Keiou 4. That also means he must be from a time further along than at least three of them.

No, we haven't gotten around to it. [ As in, they never bothered. ]

[Chizuru pauses, rubbing her arms a bit as she walks further into her room.]

Would you rather I fill you in, then? It isn't fair for you not to know what the others do.

[ He just stares at her for a moment, trying to decide whether or not he wants to take that step.

But judging by Hijikata's attitude, what Chizuru has told him and her initial response to him, and his other self's recent death...

Yeah, he can sort of make out where everything went. He doesn't need to know the details. ]

...Nah, I got the answer I was looking for.

[Chizuru peers up at Okita curiously.] Are you sure?

[He seems so careless, all things considered.]

[ Souji doesn't really... respond at all. He just looks at her, a bit of an unreadable expression on his face.

After a moment though, his mouth twists into a smirk. ]

You know if you tell anyone about this, I'll have to kill you.

[With a flush of indignation, Chizuru balls her hands up into fists and holds them straight at her side.]

There isn't anything to tell!! [Haven't they gotten past this already?!]

He just snickers and turns away from her, getting ready to leave. His hand drops to the doorknob before he remembers something very important. ]

Oh, right. Did you hear?

[Chizuru's flustering quickly calms, much as it often does.]

Hear what?

[Was that all he came in for, really?]

[ He turns back to her, and grins at her for a moment before finally speaking. ]

You were a very hot topic among some of the guys on the journal a couple of days ago.

[Chizuru knows that look.]

Buh--what? I was?! What did I do?!

[Is she in trouble?!]

You just seem to be really well liked. Especially by a few members of this house.

[ HEHEHEH ]

[At first Chizuru blushes, but wait! He's just trying to get a rise out of her, isn't he?

She smiles warmly.] Okita-san...

[ He looks back up at her, and puts his grin back on. ]

Hijikata-san and Heisuke-kun... Maybe you should ask them what I'm talking about.

[Chizuru tilts her head.] Why would I ask them, if you can explain it?

[ He snickers. ] I guess I could tell you, but I think it'd be more fun if you hear--

[ We interrupt our current programming to bring you a very sudden and very violent coughing fit.

Welp, guess that's what the dry Luceti air does to you. That or punishment for thinking that it wasn't as bad here or something. ]

Okita-san! [Oh dear, she knew it! Was it too much to hope that the tuberculosis hadn't hit him here, yet?]

You should sit down. Should I make some tea..?

[Maybe she'll have to ask the others about it after all. Here's hoping she doesn't ~~conveniently~~ forget.]

[ All he can do at this point is just shake his head no. It's nothing, he's fine, it'll stop in a second--at least that's what he'd say if he could catch his breath.

It does die down after a few moments though, and he spends a few seconds taking deep breaths, clutching his chest. When he's composed himself, he turns to her with a bit of a... forced grin on his face. ]

I'm fine, see?
